UnderSea | Editorial Project

For my Undersea Editorial Project, I was tasked with designing and hand-binding a bespoke edition of Undersea by Rachel Carson. I created all the illustrations myself, drawing inspiration from the fluid movement and mystery of the ocean’s depths. The book’s design aimed to evoke a sense of immersion, guiding the reader through Carson’s poetic exploration of marine life.

To enhance this feeling, I printed the dust cover on translucent acetate, layering it over a rich, deep blue background. This effect mimicked the shimmering crests of waves atop the sea, adding depth and motion to the book’s presentation while capturing the essence of Carson’s vivid underwater world.
