SOUTHSEA | The Seafront That Holds Our Stories
For my Southsea: The Seafront That Holds Our Stories project, I explored the emotional connections people form with coastal spaces, using Southsea as a nostalgic anchor point. Through a combination of analogue and digital photography, I captured everyday moments, textures, and overlooked details that reflect the quiet charm of the seafront. The project takes you on a journey along Southsea, brought to life through a collection of screen-printed posters and a set of illustrated postcards—one for each stop on the trail—each featuring a character that embodies a local story or memory.
To further enhance the interactive experience, I designed an accompanying map and a set of collectible stickers, encouraging participants to engage playfully with the route. At the heart of the project is a custom Southsea deckchair, which I hand-embroidered with the character badges, turning it into a physical marker of the stories told. The result is a tactile, immersive experience that invites people of all ages to reconnect with the seafront through narrative, creativity, and personal reflection.

So next time you're at the seaside – whether it’s Southsea, Brighton, or beyond – take a moment to look around, ask a question, and share a story.
You never know what little moment might become a lasting memory.
